Research in Developmental Psychology
In my opinion, research in Developmental Psychology is the most interesting field of Psychology. When you think about the incredible amount of development, growth and change that human beings go through during those first few years, it’s awe-inspiring. We add to our understanding of human development in those early years when parents and children are generous enough to participate in research studies. One of my studies used data from the Early Learning Lab (ELLA) in the School of Psychology, at the University of Auckland (the one that looked at Technoference). Thank you to the parents and children who took part. There are a number of studies being conducted at the present time and ELLA is always looking for volunteers to take part. If you do want to participate with your child, you would come into the lab for a lab session, and children generally really enjoy the experience (and get a small prize at the end). There is a lot more information on participating in ELLA studies here, and I am spreading the word in appreciation of being able to conduct a study in the ELLA lab. I know firsthand how valuable the research is.
